Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American journalist and photojournalist who has covered natural and war-related disasters for more than 45 years. She focuses on the human suffering suffered by people living in these regions. Curry was a reporter in war zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Curry is well-known for her reporting of human-rights crises as well as natural disasters particularly in nations that have been devastated by conflict. Curry was the child of an U.S. Navy sailor and an Japanese woman. Following World War II, her parents came together while her father was serving in Japan. Because of her father's work in the military, they moved a lot. Curry graduated from high school within Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 from in the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. In her youth, she was exposed to diverse cultures. Her school was located in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland was her last high school. In Medford, she started her broadcasting career with KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. At the age 22 she was the first reporter to be female at KTVL. Later, she moved into the role of anchor and reporter for KGW an NBC affiliate located in Portland, Oregan. Four years later she moved into Los Angeles as a reporter for the KCBS-TV. In her time with the channel, she won the award of two Emmy Awards.
